Fabry Disease Webinar 

Session Description

This disease awareness initiative for Fabry disease will  highlight the pivotal role Optometrists play in accelerating the diagnosis of patients with Fabry disease. The session seeks to encourage optometrists to take a proactive approach in identifying patients who may be at risk and referring them for further evaluation and treatment.

Presenter Details
Dr. Langis Michaud – Full Professor, School of Optometry, Université de Montréal


Dr. Langis Michaud, an optometry visionary, graduated from École d’optométrie de l’Université de Montréal in 1986. His remarkable journey includes a Master's Degree in physiological optics (1998) and a third-cycle degree in public health (2006). Dr. Michaud is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1989 and a Cornea and Contact Lens Diplomate since 1994. He's also recognized as a Fellow of the Scleral Contact Lens Organization (2010) and the British Contact Lens Association (2013).

Since 2001, as a full professor at Université de Montréal, he's advanced contact lens care and anterior segment disease treatment. His expertise influences pharmaceutical studies and international education. With over 35 chapters in French-edited books, Dr. Michaud is a field luminary. Currently, he pioneers a groundbreaking study on ocular manifestations of Fabry's and lysosomal storage disorders, displaying unwavering commitment. He is currently the president of the College of Optometrists of Quebec.
